Writer's blog!

Well, well, well!
Hello dear space and dear people! (or 'person/s' seems more fitting, considering that 'people' tend not to visit blogs that have been dead for over a year)

As the title says, this is a writer's blog. They say that 'writer's block is god's way of telling you that you're not a writer.' Well... this is my way of telling god to take a running jump!
The reason I didn't write for so long was that I couldn't. Or whenever I could, it always turned out to be something that didn't really 'go' with my previous entries- for the want of a better word. Does that mean I've changed? Does that mean I've grown? Does that mean I understand the world more or better now?
You can pick your answer to those questions from the following:
A) Yeah... you wish!
B) No! Nothing of the sort.
C) :-/

...whatever the reason, it didn't seem fair on the previous entries, nor on the new ones. There was a time when I even contemplated wrapping up Music and Lyrics and starting afresh! But then I thought about the last time I tried to come up with a new name for a new blog and could suddenly hear my mum telling me to 'eat up everything on the plate first!'

So here I am! Fighting down urges to make feeble and vile jokes about being an 'event related' writer rather than a 'blocked' one, and hoping that it will be less than a year before the next time I give in to the stunning and neon delusion of being able to make music and lyrics!

Tragedy is better forgotten
than understood.
The Lily of lilies better hidden
behind some ambivalent wood.

Choose dishonesty,
not ignorance nor innovation.
A sublime poem
was once killed by revelation.

I thought of a play today...conceived a play if you will...
and when I say I'm thinking of a play, the first thing I always think of is the music... I know exactly which songs, tracks, sounds go where...

Characters are initially just moods... just tangled up feelings and pasts... what blends them into a story are other things like the set...
the season of the year when all of that stuff is happening...
I wish I could make it rain outside when my play was out there offering itself to others...
I wish daylight would actually creep in just as the characters begn to feel at home in the darkness...

I wish I could make the audience feel the night breeze... I wish everything could actually happen by a window with just a streetlamp throwing light over whatever is going on...

and if only I could have it all without some of those blackouts in between... not all... only a few of them...

... or was it a film?...

Whose fault is it when everything goes wrong??

Saturday, November 3, 2007

Rain rain,
go away.
Come again,
another day.

A savage wind
is on its way
Let it pass,
then come to stay

I long for you.
For you I pray.
Oh Rain! Do come,
But not today.

The wind won't stop.
The wind won't stay.
It flows to blow,
Make way! Make way!!

And when it's gone,
we'll twirl and sway.
Just let it pass,
then come to stay...

Absolved by hate
Hate- irrelevant and finite,
none to suppress, none to release;

Impaired by pain
pain- relevant and infinite,
I carry on with the bilateral disease.
